Support national non-profit river organizations through the purchase of images featured in this year's limited edition Wild and Scenic Rivers postage stamps!
In May, 2019 the US Postal Service extended the 50th Anniversary of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act commemoration with the issuance of Wild and Scenic Rivers Forever Stamps. These stunning images represent the well over two hundred rivers across the United States protected for their free-flowing conditions, water quality, and 'outstandingly remarkable' scenery, recreation opportunities, fish and wildlife, geology, cultural or historical values. Their designation represents a deep commitment over five decades put forth by advocates and river communities, as well as state and federal river administering agency staff.
Seven of the exquisite images used for this commemorative stamp set are available for a limited time, thanks to the equally exquisite cooperation of the Bureau of Land Management's photographer Bob Wick and the generosity of Tim Palmer who, in addition to his technical skills, has been a river historian and fervent river advocate for decades.
Proceeds from the sale of these items will further the work supporting Wild and Scenic Rivers by American Whitewater, the nation's advocate for the preservation and protection of whitewater rivers in the US; River Network, the convener and 'empowerer' of river non-profit organizations, and the River Management Society, whose mission is to support professionals who study, protect and manage North America's rivers.
